Health Insurance
Health insurance helps people pay for medical expenses. It is sometimes referred to as health coverage. Most people receive health insurance coverage through their employer, or through government programs like Medicare or Medicaid.
Health insurance is an important topic for most people, and when looking for a job, health insurance coverage and costs, can be a significant portion of the benefits provided by a company. Most employers offer some form of medical insurance to their employees, with the insurance premium cost split between the employer and the employee.
There are a number a government sponsored health insurance programs as well. Medicare is a program that provides coverage for retired and disabled individuals. Medicaid covers people in lower income brackets, that are not covered by other insurance programs. State Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) covers children in families that do not qualify for Medicaid, but cannot afford insurance otherwise.
